Vex wouldn't admit it, but there was a part inside her that filled with relief to hear Lillith say plainly she wasn't envious because of Percy. Vex was, most of the time, confident of Percy's love, but there had been a time when she'd wondered how close Percy and Lillith had gotten.

"You'll find your someone," Vex said, with an assurance only those who'd found love could have, combined with a more pragmatic promise to herself she'd help Lillith in her search. "You're beautiful and wonderful, and now you don't have to look over your shoulder all the time, someone will be able to see how deep that goes."
