It did ring a bit of a bell for Vax. But that's how it was whenever someone touched on something he'd said or done or seen with Keyleth at his side. He was having lots of those echoes lately, only they made him ache a bit less now.
"I don't think you're going to frighten her," he started there. "This place is lousy with humans, I know, but she's made of tough stuff. She's probably seen her share of things that would seem strange to us."
As for the rest... "Steph can keep a secret," he said seriously. "She might tell about what you look like under there if she didn't know that it was something private, but she wouldn't go telling tales once she knew how you felt about it. I can make sure she knows not to say anything if you want me to," he offered, knowing that the whole point of keeping her true shape a secret was that she didn't want to talk about it with the whole wide world. "But I think she'd like to meet you. And then you could know it was safe in your own mind."
